Description

These Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak Meatballs are the ultimate comfort food! Tender frozen meatballs are simmered in a rich and flavorful brown gravy made with beef broth, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. The result is a hearty, savory dish that is easy to prepare and perfect for busy days. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Salisbury Steak Meatballs:

  • 1 bag (26 oz) frozen meatballs (about 3035 meatballs)
  • 2 cups reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Cornstarch Slurry:

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce: In the slow cooker, combine the beef broth, brown gravy mix, onion soup mix, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine the ingredients and dissolve the gravy mix.
  • Add the Meatballs: Add the frozen meatballs to the slow cooker and gently stir to coat them in the sauce mixture. No need to thaw the meatballs beforehand.
  • Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce is flavorful.
  • Thicken the Sauce: About 30 minutes before serving, prepare the cornstarch slurry by whisking together the cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker, stirring well. Cover and cook for an additional 20-30 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve: Once the gravy has thickened, serve the Salisbury steak meatballs over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.

Notes

  • Beef Broth: Using reduced-sodium beef broth helps control the sodium levels in this recipe, but you can use regular beef broth if preferred.
  • Gravy Mix: If you prefer a homemade gravy, you can substitute the brown gravy mix with your own blend of seasonings and broth.
  • Cornstarch Slurry: Make sure to stir the slurry well into the sauce to prevent lumps from forming.
