Ingredients
Scale
Salisbury Steak Meatballs:
- 1 bag (26 oz) frozen meatballs (about 30–35 meatballs)
- 2 cups reduced-sodium beef broth
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Cornstarch Slurry:
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In the slow cooker, combine the beef broth, brown gravy mix, onion soup mix, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine the ingredients and dissolve the gravy mix.
- Add the Meatballs: Add the frozen meatballs to the slow cooker and gently stir to coat them in the sauce mixture. No need to thaw the meatballs beforehand.
- Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce is flavorful.
- Thicken the Sauce: About 30 minutes before serving, prepare the cornstarch slurry by whisking together the cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker, stirring well. Cover and cook for an additional 20-30 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Once the gravy has thickened, serve the Salisbury steak meatballs over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.
Notes
- Beef Broth: Using reduced-sodium beef broth helps control the sodium levels in this recipe, but you can use regular beef broth if preferred.
- Gravy Mix: If you prefer a homemade gravy, you can substitute the brown gravy mix with your own blend of seasonings and broth.
- Cornstarch Slurry: Make sure to stir the slurry well into the sauce to prevent lumps from forming.
