- 1 pound (450g) ground sausage meat
- 1/2 cup (50g) breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup (60g) finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup (60g) finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 package (17.3 oz or 500g) puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage meat, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, parsley, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into two rectangles (approximately 9×5 inches or 23×13 cm).
- Divide the sausage mixture evenly into four portions. Place one portion along the center of each pastry rectangle, shaping it into a log.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg. Fold the pastry over the sausage filling, sealing the edges by pressing them together.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg.
- Using a sharp knife, make a few small slits on top of each roll to allow steam to escape.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before slicing into individual portions.
