Description

A one-pan wonder with savory chicken or turkey sausage, tender sweet potatoes, and crisp broccoli, all coated in a sweet and tangy honey garlic sauce. Topped with fresh parsley, this dish is the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and nutritious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz chicken or turkey sausage, cut into 1/2-in slices

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into 1/2-in cubes

  • 2 cups broccoli, cut into 1/2-in florets

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 4 medium cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Cook the sausage: In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the chicken or turkey sausage slices and cook for 5-6 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  • Cook the sweet potatoes: In the same skillet, add the diced sweet potatoes. Sauté for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and slightly caramelized.

  • Add broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

  • Make the honey garlic sauce: While the veggies cook, in a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.

  • Combine: Add the sausage back to the skillet, followed by the honey garlic sauce. Stir everything together and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is coated in the sauce and heated through.

  • Finish and serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with minced parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to swap in other vegetables like bell peppers or green beans if you prefer.

  • You can use any type of sausage, but chicken or turkey sausage keeps it lighter.

  • For extra heat, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
