Description

These classic chocolate chip cookies are a household favorite. Soft and chewy on the inside, with a crisp golden edge, they are packed with rich, gooey chocolate chips in every bite. Perfect for any occasion, from casual snacking to holiday treats.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until creamy and well-combined.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour mixture) to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • You can chill the cookie dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies, if preferred.
  • For chewier cookies, underbake slightly and let them set on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before moving them.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
