Description

This Korean Spicy Gochujang Chicken is a flavorful, spicy, and sweet dish that combines tender chicken with a rich gochujang sauce. Perfect for those who love bold flavors, this dish is a mix of spicy, savory, and slightly sweet elements, making it a must-try for spice lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes, optional for extra heat)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the chicken: Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Cut into bite-sized pieces if preferred.
  • Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix together gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey (or sugar), garlic, ginger, and gochugaru (if using).
  • Cook the chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Make the glaze: In the same pan, pour the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Combine: Return the chicken to the pan and toss it in the gochujang sauce, ensuring it’s well coated.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of gochujang or omit gochugaru.
  • Serve over steamed rice or with a side of kimchi for an authentic Korean meal experience.
