Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey (lean)
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Teriyaki Glaze:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional for added flavor)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, panko bread crumbs, chopped green onions, egg, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown on the outside.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the teriyaki glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- If you’d like a thicker glaze, mix the cornstarch with a little water to form a slurry and add it to the saucepan. Stir the glaze until it thickens to your desired consistency, then remove from heat.
- Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the teriyaki glaze or drizzle the glaze over the meatballs.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with extra chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- If you prefer, you can cook these meatballs in a skillet over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure they cook evenly.
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free panko breadcrumbs and make sure your soy sauce is gluten-free (tamari is a good option).
