Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken is a simple yet flavorful dish that features tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Whether you use thighs or breasts, this recipe is perfect for a quick and delicious weeknight meal. The optional addition of ginger adds a bit of warmth, and green onions provide a nice garnish to finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken thighs or breasts (4-6 pieces)

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side (depending on thickness), until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. If using, add grated ginger and sauté for another minute. Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring to combine.

  • Thicken the Sauce (optional): If you prefer a thicker sauce, dissolve the cornstarch in a little bit of water to create a slurry and add it to the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.

  • Coat the Chicken: Return the chicken to the skillet, and coat it in the sauce, spooning it over the chicken to ensure it’s evenly covered.

  • Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions (if desired) and serve immediately. Enjoy with rice, vegetables, or your favorite side dish!

Notes

  • If you’re using chicken breasts, you can tenderize them before cooking for a juicier result.

  • Feel free to add a splash of lemon juice or vinegar for an extra layer of flavor.

  • Serve this dish with steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
