This juicy Hawaiian Burger combines savory beef patties with sweet grilled pineapple, melted mozzarella cheese, and tangy red onions, all sandwiched between perfectly toasted buns. A mouthwatering tropical twist on a classic favorite!
Ingredients
Scale
- Cooking spray (for grilling)
- 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt (or to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 fresh pineapple ring (or 2, depending on size)
- 1 small red onion, sliced into rings
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 4 burger buns (preferably brioche or similar)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, ground ginger, garlic salt, and black pepper. Shape the mixture into 4 patties.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Lightly spray with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired doneness. Add a slice of mozzarella cheese to each patty in the last minute of grilling.
- Grill the pineapple rings for about 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized with grill marks. Grill the red onion rings for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Toast the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Assemble each burger by placing a grilled patty with melted mozzarella on the bottom bun, followed by a grilled pineapple ring and a few slices of grilled red onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, drizzle some extra teriyaki sauce on the burger before serving.
- You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with Swiss or cheddar if preferred.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the patties and grill the pineapple and onion on a stovetop grill pan or skillet.
