Description

Fresas con Crema is a classic Mexican dessert that combines juicy, sweet strawberries with a rich, creamy mixture. This simple yet indulgent treat is perfect for warm weather or whenever you’re craving a sweet, fruity dessert. With just a few ingredients, it’s quick to make and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup Mexican crema or sour cream (can substitute with regular sour cream)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Strawberries:
    • Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them into small pieces or quarters.
    • Set aside in a large bowl.
  • Make the Cream Mixture:
    • In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, Mexican crema (or sour cream), vanilla extract, and sugar (if using).
    • Whisk the mixture until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  • Combine the Strawberries and Cream:
    • Pour the creamy mixture over the sliced strawberries and gently stir to coat the berries evenly.
  • Chill:
    • Refrigerate the strawberries and cream for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld together and the mixture to chill.
  • Serve:
    • Serve the Fresas con Crema chilled in individual bowls or cups. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or a lighter cream, and reduce the sugar if preferred.
  • If you want to add a bit of crunch, sprinkle some granola or crushed nuts on top before serving.
  • This dessert can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 days, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.
