Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup Mexican crema or sour cream (can substitute with regular sour cream)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries:
- Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them into small pieces or quarters.
- Set aside in a large bowl.
- Make the Cream Mixture:
- In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, Mexican crema (or sour cream), vanilla extract, and sugar (if using).
- Whisk the mixture until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
- Combine the Strawberries and Cream:
- Pour the creamy mixture over the sliced strawberries and gently stir to coat the berries evenly.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the strawberries and cream for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld together and the mixture to chill.
- Serve:
- Serve the Fresas con Crema chilled in individual bowls or cups. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or a lighter cream, and reduce the sugar if preferred.
- If you want to add a bit of crunch, sprinkle some granola or crushed nuts on top before serving.
- This dessert can be stored in the fridge for 1-2 days, but it’s best enjoyed fresh.
