Description
These Drunken Chocolate Covered Strawberries are a decadent treat perfect for any occasion! Fresh strawberries are soaked in your favorite liquor, then dipped in rich, smooth chocolate for the ultimate indulgence. The combination of fruit, booze, and chocolate makes these a fun and sophisticated dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, with stems
- 1/2 cup liquor (such as rum, bourbon, or tequila)
- 8 oz dark or milk chocolate (your choice)
- 1/4 cup white chocolate (for drizzling, optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries:
- Wash the strawberries gently and pat them dry with paper towels. Make sure they are completely dry, as water can interfere with the chocolate coating.
- Place the strawberries in a shallow bowl and pour your choice of liquor over them, making sure each berry is submerged.
- Let the strawberries soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how strong you want the liquor flavor. Avoid soaking them too long as they might get soggy.
- Melt the Chocolate:
- While the strawberries are soaking, melt the dark or milk chocolate. You can do this using a double boiler or by microwaving the chocolate in short bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
- If you like, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the melted chocolate for an added depth of flavor.
- Dip the Strawberries:
- Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, coating it evenly. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
- Place the dipped strawberry on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and set.
- Add the White Chocolate Drizzle (optional):
- If you want to drizzle white chocolate over the strawberries for a beautiful contrast, melt the white chocolate in the same way you did the dark or milk chocolate.
- Using a spoon or a piping bag, drizzle the white chocolate over the set chocolate-covered strawberries in a zig-zag pattern.
- Garnish (optional):
- If desired, sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top of the strawberries for a sweet-salty finish.
- Let the Chocolate Set:
- Allow the chocolate to harden at room temperature for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, or place them in the fridge for quicker setting.
- Serve:
- Once set, your Drunken Chocolate Covered Strawberries are ready to serve! Enjoy this adult treat as a dessert or a party snack.
Notes
- Feel free to experiment with different types of liquor, such as champagne, Grand Marnier, or Bailey’s Irish Cream, to customize the flavor of the strawberries.
- These can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
