Description

A rich, decadent chocolate cake roll with a light and airy texture, filled with a creamy vanilla-infused whipped cream. Perfect for celebrations or indulgent desserts, this showstopper dessert is as delicious as it is elegant.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cake:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly.
    • In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until pale and fluffy.
    • Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Add vanilla extract and mix gently until just combined.
    • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and spread it to the edges.
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
  • Roll the Cake:
    • While the cake is still warm, turn it out onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with cocoa powder. Peel off the parchment paper.
    • Roll the cake tightly in the towel, starting from the shorter end, and let it cool completely.
  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • Assemble the Cake Roll:
    • Unroll the cooled cake carefully and spread the whipped cream evenly over the surface.
    • Roll the cake back up tightly (without the towel), and transfer it seam-side down to a serving platter.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
    • Dust the top with powdered sugar or cocoa powder for decoration, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cool before adding the filling to avoid melting the whipped cream.
  • Add chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or a drizzle of chocolate ganache for an extra touch.
