Ingredients
-
12 small wonton wrappers
-
1 lb ground chicken
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil
-
2 teaspoons rice vinegar
-
2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
-
1/2 cup shredded carrots
-
1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
-
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
-
1/4 cup sesame seeds (for garnish)
-
Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and arrange the wonton wrappers on it. Lightly brush or spray with oil and bake for 6-8 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
-
Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and chili flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
-
Stir in the shredded carrots and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the carrots are slightly tender but still crisp.
-
Carefully fill each baked wonton wrapper with the Asian chicken mixture.
-
Top with fresh green onions, cilantro, and sesame seeds. Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing.
Notes
-
If you want a spicier kick, add more chili flakes or drizzle with Sriracha sauce.
-
For a healthier option, you can use ground turkey instead of chicken.
-
These tacos are great for parties or as an appetizer, and you can make them ahead by preparing the chicken filling and wonton cups separately.
-
If you prefer, you can use pre-made crispy taco shells instead of wonton wrappers for a shortcut.
