Description

A creative fusion of crispy wontons and savory Asian chicken, these Asian Chicken Wonton Tacos are bursting with flavor and texture. Perfect for a fun weeknight meal or a unique appetizer, they’re a delicious twist on both tacos and Asian cuisine. A quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 small wonton wrappers

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)

  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots

  • 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and arrange the wonton wrappers on it. Lightly brush or spray with oil and bake for 6-8 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.

  • Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and chili flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  • Stir in the shredded carrots and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the carrots are slightly tender but still crisp.

  • Carefully fill each baked wonton wrapper with the Asian chicken mixture.

  • Top with fresh green onions, cilantro, and sesame seeds. Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing.

Notes

  • If you want a spicier kick, add more chili flakes or drizzle with Sriracha sauce.

  • For a healthier option, you can use ground turkey instead of chicken.

  • These tacos are great for parties or as an appetizer, and you can make them ahead by preparing the chicken filling and wonton cups separately.

  • If you prefer, you can use pre-made crispy taco shells instead of wonton wrappers for a shortcut.
